Ethos, Aims & Values

Our Toolkit for Learning, Love and Laughter are our foundation and clearly demonstrate the ethos of the school. We have used the Olympic Values as a vision for learning behaviour and as characteristics of good learners;

  • Determination
  • Equality
  • Respect
  • Excellence
  • Inspiration
  • Courage
  • Friendship
These were developed over a series of assemblies with the children discussing how and why these characteristic make good learners and how they can demonstrate them in all learning opportunities.

All activities within the school should have as their goal the fulfillment of one or more elements of the toolkit. These values are explicitly focused on throughout the year at every opportunity and celebrated as part of our weekly celebration assembly.

Our Teaching and Learning Policy below illustrates the core values and expectations at St Breock School.

Our Personal Development curriculum overview demonstrates how this is planned over the year and how other elements of personal development are weaved in. Our Personal Development Curriculum knits together our PSHE curriculum, our Trauma Informed whole school approach, The Character Education Framework, our PE Curriculum as well as elements of ICT and R.E. This is at the heart of our school and is always a work in progress and being adapted to me the needs of our children and develop their character.
