Autumn Term 2023
This term in Year 1, we will be learning about Traditional Tales. We will be starting our topic off by dressing up as characters from a variety of traditional tales before learning how to write our own stories based on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Following on from this we will be writing letters of apology from Goldilocks and after half term we will begin to learn the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
In Maths, we are learning about Place Value, including: counting in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s, adding 1 digit numbers, greater than, fewer than and equal to.
Alongside these the children will learn about animals and their habitats, our local environment, how to make porridge with special toppings amongst all sorts of other things.
We learn all of this through play based activities, using the various areas of the classroom to bring our topics to life. The children continue to learn independence throughout everything they do and our Toolkit for Learning, Love and Laughter is threading through all the activities.
