St Breock Primary School

Reading Together Y3, 4, 5 & 6

Once children have completed our Phonics Programme, they are then able to chose their reading books from our library. We support this transition with our Easy Reads section. Children will bring a book home from the libarary and even though they are now independedntly reading,we encourage you to spend time exploring reading together. We would love this to now be more about book talk, to continue to develop and deepen their understandng of what they are reading. This will mirror the teaching of reading in school, which will now be focused on reading comprehension. To support you we have developed a bank of questions for each year group that you can use at home when you are reading with your child. We recommend making reading time together part of your routine, in a comforatble setting and make it fun. Here are some tips from The Book Trust to do just that https://www.penguin.co.uk/discover/childrens-articles/ways-to-keep-storytime-fun-from-the-booktrust  Happy reading together...........
