Welcome to Year 1!

In Year 1, we learn new skills every day as we grow into confident, curious learners. We spend lots of time building our early reading and writing through daily phonics, practising our sounds, blending to read words, and using these skills to write simple sentences with capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

In maths, we explore numbers in lots of fun ways, including counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, solving addition and subtraction problems, and using practical resources to help us understand new ideas.

We also enjoy exciting topics in science, history, geography, art and more, giving us plenty of chances to explore, talk, create and discover.

We can’t wait to share all the wonderful learning and adventures we have together this year as we grow in confidence and independence.
