Religious Education

'Education is the key to unlock the door of freedom'

Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.' Aristotle

The quotes above illustrate the importance of a good education in Religious Education. At St. Breock teach children to be open minded, particularly in this area. Through our toolkit for 'Learning, love and laughter' we hope that the children will be accepting and understanding of all cultures and religions that they come across throughout life.

Intent:

At St Breock, Religious Education is an integral, ambitious and inclusive curriculum that develops pupils’ understanding of religions and worldviews. Pupils are equipped to ask questions, reflect on beliefs and engage respectfully with diversity, preparing them for life in modern Britain.

 We aim to:

• Engage and challenge pupils through enquiry into religions and worldviews.

• Support pupils to reflect on and discuss beliefs in a respectful environment.

• Build secure knowledge of Christianity, Judaism, Islam and Hinduism over time.

• Provide meaningful experiences through storytelling, visitors and visits.

• Explore both global beliefs and the local Cornish context.

• Develop confident use of subject-specific RE vocabulary.
